This programme is scheduled for launch in December 2017. At present, the Minimum Energy Performance criteria for refrigerators are being prepared by relevant institutes.
Refrigerator vendors are advised to get their refrigerators tested and labelled accordingly. Only refrigerators that conform to the standards will be considered in this programme.
The overall objective of the programme is to save 160 GWh annually, by replacing inefficient refrigerators with efficient refrigerators.
